Drag the Red

Many family members of Canada’s missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls find some peace in honouring their loved ones with vigils, memorial walks, and supporting the family members of other missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Kyle Kematch, brother of MMIWG Amber Guiboche, and Bernadette Smith, sister of MMIWG Claudette Osborne-Tyo, organized a group called “Drag the Red”, whose mandate is to drag the bottom of the Red River in and around Winnipeg for the remains of missing and murdered individuals.
